Young Green Heron Crest by barcon53 Young Green Heron Crest by barcon53
I wish I had a sharper lens to capture the feather detail on it's crest. :)

That's a great shot. Looks like he plays in a punk rock band.

Thank you and thanks for the fave! It was funny to watch, he wiggled it up and down like people wiggle their eyebrows...

Thanks! I love the pose, and the crest. :) They look so different with the neck stretched out and the crest up.

that's a great shot .... for sure you should be able to get more detail with software .... it's already pretty good .... did you capture it in RAW or jpeg?

Jpeg. I already sharpened it as best I could. A friend gave me more sophisticated instructions to try, which I will in a little while. Still, if the original were more detailed, I'd be pleased. A really good long telephoto is out of my price range. I'm using a Bigma which is pretty good but a little soft on fine detail.

Ya .... my 18~105 is like that ... I only use it if I REALLY have to .... and I paid a lot for it too! I sent the first one back cuz it was so soft but the second one was the same

Yeah, I paid a lot for the Bigma too. I like it because I get shots I couldn't get otherwise and it's better than a major crop would be.

yup .... it's just too bad that a person's budget makes such a difference. My neighbour sent me a link to his Boss's Wife's website and all the wildlife shots she has. But she has almost an unlimited supply of cash ..... tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment ... numerous trips all over the world to places like Alaska and Africa (several times). It's pretty hard to measure up when you have a bank roll like that behind you .. sigh

Well, money helps get the best equipment and travel to beautiful locations but it doesn't get what you have... a natural affinity for nature which gave you many marvelous and exciting experiences. I treasure the few moments I have had, as mundane as they are compared to African wildlife! I think you treasure your moments too. Can't buy that!

if you have PhotoShop, I can send you some 'instructions' that could help with that....

I use Paint Shop Pro which is fairly similar to PS. Please send what you have, and I'll try it out....

Thank you, I think the keyboard shortcuts may not match but the layers and general directions seem to be usable in PSP. I will try it a little later today.
