B+W Susan by barcon53 B+W Susan by barcon53
The shapes of the folded petals and textures of the dew coated leaves appealed to me.

The b/w really emphasizes the textures and the shape. Love this, i've always shied away from b/w myself...

I'm not really a fan of B+W either but this shot didn't work nearly as well in color.

A friend of mine tries to get me to shoot b/w but I don't think I have the eye for it.

I don't shoot in B&W, just color. But sometimes color gets in the way of what I want to show. That's another reason to love digital photography!

Oh I hear you, I was reading about some of Ansel Adams techniques and how he would combine negatives and plates to get the look he wanted...now that was dedication, can you imagine still having to do that?

Dreadful! The worse part would have been, if you don't like what you did, too bad! I like being able to make multiple copies and try different things. I would never have had this much fun with film!

PS. Have you thought of a tighter crop? :handshake:

Actually I had... I couldn't make up my mind just how it should be cropped and I'm still a little dissatisfied with what I picked in the end. I was leaning toward a square crop, fairly tight. Maybe I'll try again to see if I like it any better this time....

Yes to a square crop - start from upper left hand corner & just clear the right side leaf to the same amount as on the left. Should be just 'right'. :highfive:

Ooooo it's preeeetty

It looks really neat in black and white! You don't usually see flowers like that. Makes it seem kind of cold and prickly :)
